Vitamins and Supplements for Children

Ideally, children who ingest the vitamins and minerals they need to grow strong and healthy by eating a balanced, nutritious diet. But that does not happen very often nowadays. All too often parents rush and no time to make meals more nutritious and just pick up a pizza on the way to the office at night. Children who are very demanding might refuse to eat healthy foods and prefer junk food or fast food rather than healthy meals. So parents should give children vitamins.

While children are growing need for a certain amount of particular vitamins and minerals otherwise their bodies and minds will not develop the way they should. Malnutrition or poor nutrition can cause developmental disabilities and other problems that can last throughout the life of a child.

Child health experts do not always agree that not all children should take a daily multivitamin. Some parents prefer to give children only the particular vitamins, which might be lacking based on the types of foods you will or will not eat. However, in order to ensure their children get what they need many parents give their children a multivitamin every day just to make sure the child is receiving adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals.
